What Is Autism?

Autism is a developmental disorder that affects one if every 91 children born today.  It is four times more likely to strike boys than girls
No two children with Autism are alike, but here are some of the possible signs:
  • Appears to be indifferent, not mixing with others
  • Little or no eye contact
  • Severe language problems, may gesture instead of speaking
  • May be extremely sensitive to sounds, smells or touch
  • Performs repetitive movements such as hand flapping or rocking
  • Spins objects
  • Insists on routines
What are the childhood milestones?

If you suspect your child may have autism, don't "wait and see".
Parents are usually correct when they sense something is wrong, and early intervention is the key
